They are quite visible in the late evening and early morning. The entire purpose of DRL are to make the car more visible in the twilight hours when many accidents could be avoided with running lights. (I believe it was the Norwegians who performed the study, being as they experience twilight for a huge part of the day in some seasons.) The halos serve this purpose just fine. They don't make much impact in bright daylight, but who cares?
